Incense Gifts & Fragrance
From Japan to Arabia, smoke has risen from altars for thousands of years. Incense draws on two great materials: agarwood, the dark resin known as oud in the Middle East and jinko in Japan, and sandalwood from India. They come as sticks, cones and chips, along with travel kits, boxes and holders. Antique burners in bronze and brass from China, Tibet and Japan, among them censers cast as guardian lions and burners depicting the protector Mahakala, give the smoke a sculptural home on a console or a library shelf. Light one, and sit still.
