About this piece

Heavy in the hand, and meant to be. Central Africa knew what a bracelet could carry.

In the 19th century, metal rings and bracelets served as adornment and as a store of wealth, exchanged in trade and in important payments. This bronze one comes from the Republic of Congo. A thick open cuff, cast with parallel ridges around its outer face, with flattened ends that turn inward. The surface is a mottled golden brown with patches of green and areas of pitting.

About four inches across. Set it on a desk and watch what it does to the paperweights.
