Cameroonian Bronze Figural Ring

A body curls around the finger and ends in two small knobby heads.

Metal casters in Cameroon have long produced jewelry and small sculptural objects, and rings with figures and animals were worn as personal adornment and marks of status. This bronze ring was cast in the 20th century. Limbs and rounded projections spread along the sides of the band. The casting is chunky and lively, a little lumpy and organic.

Bright golden bronze shows on the high points, green patina in the recesses. Just over an inch across. A ring that moves, even sitting still.
