About this piece
Less than two inches, and plenty to say.
Small brass and bronze figures from the Lake Chad region were cast by the lost-wax method and were often kept or worn as personal charms. This one is a tiny seated bronze from Chad, 20th century. He sits with legs extended straight forward and arms at the sides, a ring encircling the neck. The round head is framed by large disc-like ears and eyes, and small rounded forms mark the chest.
The metal has a warm, even brown patina, lightly pitted.
Give him a windowsill. He will take the afternoon sun without complaint.
