About this piece
A blade that was never meant to cut anything.
Across Central Africa, forged blades in standardized shapes passed from hand to hand in marriage payments and other weighty transactions, seldom if ever used as weapons. This one comes from the Republic of Congo, made in the 20th century, and stands some 69 inches tall. A narrow tapering shaft with a fine central ridge and a slightly rounded tip rises, then flares at the lower end into a broad, kite-shaped spread finished with a short tang. Deep chocolate-brown, with an even, aged texture.
Just under six feet of spare silhouette. Give it a plain wall.
