Kotoko Bronze Standing Figure

Three inches. That is all the height it has, and it uses every one of them.

A Kotoko figure from Chad, twentieth century, cast in bronze. It walks, or nearly. Long narrow body, one leg set slightly ahead, a round head with wide ringed eyes and a mouth held open as if mid-sentence. The surface is worn to a soft gold, dark where the hand has not reached.

Chad’s Kotoko have a long tradition of working in metal, and you can feel it in how little is wasted here. It stands on a small black base.

Keep it near the telephone. It looks ready to say something.
