Chadian Standing Male Figure, Based

Four inches of bronze, standing his ground.

Cast in Chad during the 20th century. The lost-wax process has long been part of the region’s metalworking, producing people and animals in a lean, expressive style. This figure, just under four inches tall, has short outstretched arms and a tall pointed headdress above a narrow face.

A striated triangle at the waist suggests a garment or apron. The elongated body tapers to a single flattened foot. The patina is crusty and green over darker bronze, and a black base holds him upright.

He has opinions. He keeps them brief.
