About this piece
Almost six feet of iron, and most of it patience.
This spear was forged in the Republic of Congo in the 20th century. In Central Africa, spears served in hunting and defense, and many also carried meaning as emblems of status and manhood. The head is a long, narrow leaf that tapers to a fine point, with a crisp central ridge down its length. It narrows into a slender socket and shaft. The iron has a deep, even gray patina with faint mottling across the blade.
Stand it upright in a corner of a spare room. The room will straighten up.
