About this piece

Two crescents for legs. One paddle for a rider. The Kotoko have said everything they need to.

The Kotoko of the Lake Chad region made small horsemen by the lost-wax method, and such figures were often carried or worn as personal charms. This one was cast in bronze in Chad in the 20th century. The long horse’s head has two small pointed ears. Each pair of legs is drawn as a single broad crescent. About two inches long, it has a warm golden surface with darker patches and spots of green patina, especially along the back.

Pared down to line. Nothing left to argue with.
