Dogon metalsmiths in Mali cast this miniature warrior in bronze in the 20th century. Small figures of this kind served as personal protective charms and altar objects, and the armed man was a favored subject. His long thin legs are spread wide, and both hands lift a broad leaf-shaped blade. The surface is crusted with green and gray patination, darker where the metal has been handled.

Four inches tall, on a small black base. Plenty of movement for a figure you could lose in a coat pocket.
