Designer Furniture

The workshop smells of sandalwood and fresh lacquer. Designer furniture is contemporary work, made new by hand: display boxes in sandalwood and glass for small objects, custom cabinets including a thin red-lacquer four-door cabinet, cocktail tables, a meditation chair, kilim-covered pillows, even a dog house. Most are built in China, India and the United States, in elm, suar wood and glass, with wool, silk and cotton. Alongside come pieces from American and international design houses: AERIN, EJ Victor, Oly and Ralph Lauren Home.

New pieces carry the proportions and materials of antiques without the wear, so they sit easily beside old furniture. A red lacquer cabinet next to a Tibetan chest. A display box holding a bronze on a walnut console. Old and new, still talking.
