Animal Hide Rugs
Winter on the Mongolian steppe, where warmth is still measured in fleece. Animal hide rugs bring texture of a different kind: hand-painted cowhide, zebra skin, Mongolian lamb in long and short hair, goatskin, Rex rabbit pelts pieced into throws. Mongolian lamb, curly and silky, comes dyed black, grey, tan or mauve, or left natural white; cowhide is painted by hand or left in its own markings. Thrown over a leather chair, laid beside a bed, layered on a wool rug, a hide softens stone and concrete floors. Comfort, taken literally.
