Rugs Contemporary
In Nepal, weavers trained in the Tibetan tradition knot Himalayan wool by hand. Contemporary rugs are hand-knotted and hand-woven there and in India and Egypt, alongside sisal and area rugs from the United States. Nepalese knotters work wool and silk into abstract and color-field runners; Indian and Egyptian workshops produce flatweaves and pile rugs. Chunky sisal and Ralph Lauren area rugs give a plain, even ground.
Neutral wool and sisal lay a calm field under furniture. A color-field runner in a hallway, sisal under a dining table: let older pieces carry the room. The floor, keeping its counsel.
In the collection now: Wood Work on Panel, Framed Abstract Painting, United States, and Expressionist Painting on Canvas.
