Bracelets & Cuffs

Hammered at a bench in India or in the American Southwest, silver ends up in the same place: on a wrist. Contemporary bracelets, bangles and cuffs in sterling silver, coin silver, brass and bronze are made by hand, in traditions still practiced in India, Indonesia, North Africa and the Southwest. Navajo cuffs set with turquoise, Indian silver bangles chased with flowers, engraved silver in the Tuareg manner and lost-wax brass from West Africa carry the weight and finish of their older counterparts. Silver darkens in its recesses and brightens on the high points where it meets the wrist. Stacked several to an arm, or laid together on a dressing table, they read as a small run of metalwork. A conversation, conducted in clinks.
