Pillows & Throws Textiles & Rugs

A sofa has never had much to say. A good pillow, a good throw, and suddenly the whole room has a past.

Pillows and throws are cut from old textiles and new: Kuba tcaka dance skirts and Shoowa prestige panels from the Congo, Mossi and Dogon cotton from Burkina Faso and Mali, Uzbek suzani with ikat backs and bugzhoma bedding ornaments, Turkmen and Bessarabian kilims, Banjara embroidery and Indian block prints, Guangzhou silk, and Tibetan love-knot blankets in wool and cashmere. Bolsters, tassels in leather and bead, and throws in cashmere, leather and wool sit alongside.

Raffia, kilim wool and hand-stitched cotton bring texture to a bench or sofa. A stack of mixed patterns on a leather daybed, or cashmere at the foot of a bed, softens a room of stone and wood.

Comfort, with provenance.
