Bolsters

Kang, banquette and daybed all arrived at the same idea: something long and round to lean on. Bolsters are long cylindrical cushions, an old form from the Chinese kang to the Moroccan banquette. Covered in old textiles, Kuba raffia, Uzbek suzani and ikat, Turkmen and Anatolian kilim, Indian block print and Chinese silk, and finished with leather or tassels, they carry pattern in a single line. A pair at either end of a daybed or a long bench, or one laid across the back of a sofa, gives structure to soft seating. Comfort, with a spine.

In the collection now: Kuba Cloth Bolster Pillow and Mossi Woman's Wrap / Skirt Bolster Pillow.
