Volnay

Paris, 1919, and a new house for a new decade. Volnay is a perfume house founded by René Duval and revived in recent years with new compositions in the spirit of its interwar originals. Its fragrances work in the classic French manner, with chypres, florals and powdery ambers built on iris, rose, oakmoss, leather and vanilla. The bottles recall the Art Deco flacons of the 1920s. On a dressing table or a mirrored tray beside a pair of antique candlesticks, they read as small pieces of period design. Powder, softly.
