Incense Travel Kits

A pilgrim’s pouch, a few sticks of sandalwood, a long road. Incense travel kits gather sticks, a small holder and a matchbox or lighter into a compact case for the road. They follow a long tradition of portable incense among pilgrims, monks and travelers in Japan, Tibet and India, who carried agarwood and sandalwood in small boxes and pouches. Packed into a bag, a kit brings a familiar scent to a hotel room or a guest room; at home it sits on a desk or a bedside table. The hotel room, at least, smells of somewhere.
