Wall Lighting
Candles lit rooms from the side, at eye level, and good light still comes that way. Wall lighting means sconces, wall lamps, candle sconces and wall-mounted lanterns in brass, iron, tin, glass and mirror. Moroccan pierced-brass wall lanterns, French and Italian gilt and iron sconces, Spanish colonial tin from Mexico, Indian brass with mirrored backplates and mid-century swing-arm lamps carry the habit forward. Mounted in pairs beside a mirror or a bed, along a corridor or flanking a painting, they add a layer of light that ceiling fixtures cannot. Ceilings have their uses; this is not one of them.
In the collection now: Westbury Mirrored Sconce, Rosehill Linear Wall Light, and Montgomery 36" Picture Light.
